About us
The community of Barrows is located in North central Manitoba only minutes from the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border. The Community of 200 residents sits at the foothills of the Porcupine Provincial Forests to the south and Red Deer Lake to the north. Barrows is surrounded by incredible stands of forests, beautiful landscapes and abundant wildlife.
The community originated at Barrows Junction and was instrumental as a hub for the areas abundant Forestry and Fishing industries in the early 1900's.
Officially given the status of community by Manitoba in 1984, Barrows is governed by Mayor Brenda Hather and 4 local councillors. The community enjoys a K-9 elementary school along with Adult education classes and continued learning courses. Local municipal services include water, volunteer fire department, public works and garbage collection.
Manitoba Provincial highway #77 runs directly through the community with major centers and services all with a 100 kilometers.
