This is the ultimate music camp for all ages held in Manitoba. Don’t miss out on the best daily workshops in fiddle, guitar, vocals, dance, mandolin and bass lessons with some of the best instructors in Canada. Lessons are available from the beginner to the advanced starting at 9am.
We can accommodate 100 participants; space is limited so book to-day, reasonable rates with meals or without, camping spaces are also available. The previous participants have come from all over Canada to enroll in this camp and raved about the great home cooking, the friendly small town atmosphere and the great instructors.
There are evening concerts Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday in the Barrows Community Hall that profile the instructors and students, free for participants. Admission for others is $4.00per evening. Friday evening is going to be a fun filled evening for the whole family, starting at 7pm. We have Micheal and Jacob Harris coming from Winnipeg performing some amazing dancing. Also doing a performance is a fantastic young fiddler, Scott Corneluis from Roblin MB, then we finish the evening with our instructors playing for an Old Time Family Dance. Price is only $3.00 each for everyone.
For those returning participants the program format will remain the same as last year. Lessons will be held in the Barrows School and Community Hall, starting at 9am. There will be a pre-registration booth set up in the school gym area on Tuesday from 7-8pm, and another in the Community Hall on Wednesday from 8-9am.
Non-serviced camping site is free of charge at a first come bases. No open fires will be allowed, but we will have an open fire pit available (fire wood provided) on site, adult supervision required, there will also be pot-a-potties on site. Please help keep our camp site and community grounds clean, if it is raining limit your travel on camp site with vehicles, We are providing 24 hour security personal on site, but our committee will not be held liable for injuries, accidents, stolen or damaged personal property.
A canteen will be open in the evenings at the community hall: there also will be a booth for selling souvenirs eg: cd’s, U.T.P jackets, t-shirts, hats plus other merchandise. There’ll be nightly silent auctions, 50/50 draws. Meals will also be available to non participants; rates are $7- breakfast, $8 –lunch and $10 for supper. The menu will be posted in the community hall.
Even through Barrows has a total population of only 100 residence, it’s amazing that this small community is able to put on a music camp equivalent to any other, host concerts every evening that rival many country festivals with outstanding energy and such a variety of entertainment. It’s only because of their dedicated planning committee, numerous volunteers and committed instructors who have returned each year to instruct.
Come out, bring a friend and enjoy this worthwhile experience.
